Alinta Energy supplies natural gas and electricity to 700,000 homes and businesses throughout Australia. They began as a gas retailer in WA only in 1995 but since 2012 also offer electricity and gas to Victorian and South Australian customers.
Revium was approached to assist with a national website for Alinta Energy to consolidate three existing web assets the company used to manage corporate information and as customer service tools for both east and west coast customers. Although the secure customer areas were not rebuilt by Revium as part of this project, Revium assisted with:
Goals and Challenges
The team at Revium worked closely with Alinta Energy to develop a new national website under a CMS solution. The aim was to develop an engaging marketing, sales lead generation and quotation site that would lead to sales for retail energy in Australia.
Revium encountered a number of small technical challenges during the website development. These included:
- CMS integration with 2 service providers that handle the online quotation and sign-ups
- Migrating numerous hardcoded web forms into CMS forms
- Targeting different CMS based content to different Australian states
Revium captured the commercial and marketing strategy, the visual design and functional requirements from the nominated Alinta stakeholders. Using user-centred design techniques and followed up with User Experience (UX) testing, Alinta were able to unify the different supplier arrangements for their new national business website.
The Kentico CMS ASPX Template Engine was used to implement the website which allowed for greater flexibility. The main features executed were:
- Content staging
- Content workflows
- Content versioning
The completed website solution provided Alinta Energy with:
- Advanced content management capabilities
- A new all state website
- Attractive up-to-date website design
- Enhanced integration for sales.
- The ability to handle high levels of traffic
Key criteria for selecting Kentico CMS
The reasons why Alinta chose the Kentico EMS as their CMS solution was that much of the features they required were ‘out of the box’ for Kentico EMS, and the EMS capability to improve their online marketing and user engagement potential.
